Stranded red/blue socks
August 26, 2009 socks No CommentsI made Dylan a pair of socks with left over regia. I did a stranded effect with the yarn.

I have finally got round to getting photos of my rainbow pullover. I used the Top down raglan sweater generator pattern and the BFL I spun and dyed with kool-aid. For the pattern I used multiples of k8, p4.

I saw the Urbanista hat on Ravelry and wanted to give it a try. I can honestly say it was the most difficult thing I have ever knitted. I had to restart 4 or 5 times as I couldn’t get the hang of it.
I was reading too much into the pattern instead of just following it. I thought the 6 pieces had to be done separately and then grafted together at first. It was only after I finished the first piece that I realised they didn’t.
Once I had done the second piece I found it quite easy to do.
I did mine so that it was stocking stitch on the right side instead of reverse stocking stitch.
I learned a lot from that pattern including wraps and turns and a crochet cast on.
DH loves it and Dylan wants me to make him one too.

I have been growing some peas in the back yard and have just had my first batch. I don’t think I have ever eaten peas that I had to take out of the pods. They tasted scrummy.

Dylan made his Dad laugh when he came in to him wearing his fingerless gloves, sandals and a hat.

I somehow managed to forget my own wedding anniversary, I only found out at 9.30pm the night before. I had to find a project to knit DH quickly and ended up with the Darrel Waltrip knitted washcloth . I used some Lidl Colorado cotton out of my stash.
DH loved it thank goodness.

I have spun my first lot of Rainbow BFL and am quite pleased how it’s come out. I wasn’t sure about it at first as some parts are plied with the opposite side of the colour wheel which I didn’t want but now the first ball is done it’s growing on me.
It weighed 84.3g.
I am going to make myself a cardigan I think.

I have been knitting a cardigan for Dylan using some BFL that I dyed with Kool-aid. I am really pleased with it although I think I will have to make the sleeves a bit longer or it won’t fit him for long.

I ordered some more BFL from World of Wool which came yesterday. I wanted to make a rainbow coloured roving with it. I used koolaid I bought from DT Craft and Design.
I did exactly the same thing that I did with my first attempt at dyeing.
I have got 4 or 5 more batches of this to dye.
The Kool-aid colours I used were as follows:
red………. strawberry
orange.….orange
yellow…..pina. pineapple
green……lemon-lime
blue……..berry blue
purple….grape

I have been meaning to update this blog for ages but am only just getting round to it. DH’s pc has broken and he’s ordered a new one from Dell. Talk about incompetence .. the saga requires a blog post all to its self. So he’s had to use my pc in the meantime.
I finished these mojos a few weeks ago. I cast on 80 stitches and did them exactly the same as the other pair. The yarn was Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Multi Effekt Colour.

I have finally finished my cabled cardigan. I used the cables off the Central Park Hoodie but used the Top down raglan pullover generator for the size.
The yarn is some very cheap acrylic with 20% wool which cost £5 for 800 grammes.
I will probably wear this cardigan a lot around the house as it fits well and cost little.
